Hello. I am hoping some one is able to tell me the difference between regular latch hook yarn and rya latch hook yarn. I purchased a new vintage latch hook canvas and the yarn requirements have listings for regular and rya yarns. I know rya yarn is longer but what are the differences? i.e. what is the length of regular latch hook and what is the length rya yarn?

What is the best type of yarn to use if I plan to cut/make my own rya yarn? How many ply, typically, is rya yarn?

Any help/reply to these questions would be appreciated as I was unable to find the answers my doing a search.
